We just got word from the oncologist that Caleb’s ANC is up to 600 this morning, so we are going home! Unfortunately, his platelets are very low, so they are giving him platelets shortly and we will go home after that. His doctor said she was amazed at how quick he was able to bounce back. We’re not! We know what’s up!
That will change our schedule for next week. Instead of coming back in on Monday for a five day hospital stay, we will come back Wednesday and if his counts look good, we will start the five days. The bad news is that it means he will be in the hospital on Father’s Day. I’m okay with that because I will get to see him and be with him and hear him tell me “Happy Father’s Day.” The enemy’s been defeated. Death lost. My son is here and I’ll be squeezing his neck that day. What more could a father ask for?
Holly will be staying with Caleb tomorrow morning. His counts are still too low to be around a big crowd and risk infection again, so they won’t be at church. We are so thankful for the love and support shown to us in the hospital by friends and family this week. I’ve said dozes of times, but it is true – we could not do this without you guys! Thanks also to those that sent us gifts this weeks. We are grateful for every little bit that comes in with all these trips back and forth to Augusta. You guys rock!
Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. -Phil 1:6
